Business Questions

What is Streamhub?

Streamhub is a data platform for OTT audience analytics, data enrichment and targeting. Chosen by broadcasters and JIC measurement companies around the world, it provides a collaborative yet secure platform to enable internal and external users to optimise audience engagement, assess content ROI and generate advertising uplift.

Who is using Streamhub?

Our customers range from TV broadcasters, multi-channel operators, Advertising agencies and Research JICs. We’re also used exclusively as the industry standard Analytics and Data Management Platform in Japan - so we count every Broadcaster in Japan as a customer.

Where are you based?

Our global headquarters are in London - but we also have support teams in Paris and Tokyo.

What do you measure and report on?

We're all about video and OTT measurement, we believe there are four main pillars to help grow business;  Audience Reporting, Content & Editorial Analysis, Ad Reporting, Quality Of Service.

Are there any GDPR issues to think about?

No - Streamhub is fully GDPR compliant.

How are you different from other analytics providers?

What sets Streamhub apart is our relentless focus on providing actionable Business Intelligence. There are many players out there that can give basic video viewing data, but our advanced suite of tools allows you to really understand your users and what makes them tick - informing clear and measureable actions to drive your video business forward.

How long has Streamhub been around?

Streamhub was founded in 2014 - we’ve been helping happy customers do more with data ever since.

Are there any upfront costs to integrate?

There are no upfront costs for our turn key reporting services. Some additional costs might arise for bespoke integrations.

What is the difference between Analytics and Activate?

Analytics is designed to provide a quick, 360 degree views of all the key metrics for your video business. This is done through a range of pre-populated and user-friendly dashboards and reports. Activate however is a highly customisable segmentation and targeting tool - so you can dive much deeper into your audience and then connect your data up to 3rd party apps and platforms.

Metrics & Reporting

How do you track our data?

For web players, we are pre-integrated into Brightcove, Comcast’s MPX and Kaltura so it’s just a few clicks.

For apps and HTML5 players we provide ready-made plugins or you can build your own using our APIs.

Lastly, if you prefer that we use your existing video viewing logs, we can do this too.

How do you track unique users?

  • If you have user login authentication then we can track uniques based on your userID
  • If you do not have user authentication then we will track uniques based on cookies and deviceIDs up to six months

Can you reflect financial data related to the services?

  • Yes. If you have a commerce/payment service that shares the same userID and has externalisation APIs then we can ingest that data into our Commerce reports.
  • We are also working on reflecting campaign information about CPMs and campaign value in our Advertising reports.

Can you externalise the collected data?

Yes. Unlike a few analytics providers out there that prevent you from externalising your own raw or processed data, we have APIs that allow you to externalise the data directly.

Are you able to track referral data so we know our best traffic sources?

Yes from your Google Analytics – but this does require a small amount of bespoke work.

Do you measure user churn data?

Yes. We provide a user cohort analysis that groups your subscribers into month-on-month cohorts since they first signed up. We also provide user flow analysis for AVOD services.

Can you track video drop-off points?

Yes. Streamhub can tell you where users are dropping off throughout the duration of a VOD programme, Live stream or even Advertisement.

Programmes:

  • For VOD we show 1%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 95% and 100% percentiles.
  • For Live, we track every minute of every programme.

Ads:

  • We provide the VAST standard (Imp, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%)

Can you combine multiple filters in Ranking?

E.g. UK + Northern Ireland, or more than one company / player.

Yes we can add that functionality if needed within a week. At the moment we only show one country at a time or a worldwide view ‘out of the box’.

Can you incorporate series and episode number for the Ranking?

Yes we can if it’s included in the metadata.

Are you able to see where users are viewing specific content?

E.g. on the homepage, specific programme detail page etc.

Yes. We can create reports based on urls – this will be one week’s work.

Are you able to define what counts as a view for a specific client?

E.g. if the client counts one video view when a video is watched more than 1% of total runtime.

Yes.

Can you setup automated reports (daily, weekly, monthly, etc).

Yes. This is currently setup ad hoc by our engineers, so just let us know what reports you would like delivered to your inbox.

Is it possible to set up user specific dashboards?

Yes. With your admin account, you can setup specific users and groups, then define which data and reports they can access.

Can you provide IP addresses for Ad targeting?

No we can not provide IP addresses due to GDPR and basic privacy best practice. We can however provide cookies and IDFA/AdvertisingIDs given that you have obtained consent from your users.

Can you run City specific reports?

We show reports by country as default – but we can split by region or city as a custom add-on.

How can I see users who stream via Chromecast?

Chromecast tracking is not a default feature of Analytics tracking – and must be implemented as a special request. Plays via Chromecast will be logged as a web-view play unless this additional feature is enabled.

Does the Programme Ranking report exclude Trailer content?

Streamhub counts trailer content in exactly the same way that it treats other (non-ad) content. For that reason, you will see trailer consumption in the program rankings reports.

When can I have audience loyalty reports?

The audience loyalty (or retention & churn) report requires at least 2 months worth of data to provide insights. Therefore it will typically be made available 8-10 weeks after your account has gone live.

How can we distinguish between free vs paid subscribers in Streamhub?

You can connect your commerce data directly into Streamhub to report on best-performing products or tiers, and build custom audience segments based on the subscription type.
